Faculty Biosketch

Tom is an EMS Instructor for the VCU Center for Trauma and Critical Care Education, joining the center after most recently working as part of an international team establishing a Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) program within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He has spent the majority of his 23 year EMS career working with various agencies in central Virginia, as well as holding positions with the VCU Health Department of Emergency Medicine and Department of Anesthesia.

After leaving Virginia, Tom spent several years as a Flight Paramedic in rural Alaska, as well as staffing Emergency Departments and ICUs at facilities across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic. He currently holds board certification as a Critical Care Paramedic, as well as a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary professional science from VCU, and is currently a graduate student in medical physiology and pharmacology at the University of Florida.
